Meet The Team | Design Engineer, Ciarán

Ciarán joined the Refresh team as a Design Engineer in July 2024 and has since then become an essential part of our team, by identifying design challenges and refining solutions, ensuring they meet technical, aesthetic, and functional standards. Keep reading to learn more about Ciarán.

So Ciarán, tell us what you do at Refresh?

”I work as a Design Engineer, my main roles focus primarily around the EV process. i work closely with customers on the design, installation, and integration of EV ChargePoint’s, ensuring everything is tailored to each customer’s needs.”

Can you tell us a bit about your education and career so far?

”I began my career at Ulster University, where I studied Technology with Design, gaining a solid foundation in both design principles and engineering fundamentals, which sparked my interest in innovative technologies. During my placement year at Calor Gas, I gained valuable hands-on experience in the energy sector and developed a deeper understanding of energy systems. Since joining Refresh, I’ve embraced new challenges and expanded my knowledge in electric vehicles and renewable energy. It’s rewarding to communicate directly with the customer and apply my knowledge to help them integrate these new technologies into their home.”

If you are in charge of the next staff event, what are we doing?

”Would have to be a few drinks and something like an escape room for a bit of friendly competition.”

If you could meet one person dead or alive, who would it be?

”Kevin Hart.”

What was your first job?

”I worked as a sales assistant in Primark – The busiest shop on the planet.”

If you weren’t an Design Engineer, what would you be?

”I would say something to do with cars either fixing or detailing them something like that.”

What is your go to takeaway order?

”Its hard to beat a Nando’s if that counts.”

What is your favourite TV series?

”Blue mountain state.”

Night in or night out?

”Night In.”

Are you more of a morning person or a night owl?

”Definitely a night time person always have been.”

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be?

”Probably Learning different languages.”

Are you a coffee or tea person?

”Always tea.”

What would your superpower be, and why?

”Time travel – For too many reasons to count.”
