Meet The Team | Josh Rowe, Technical Director

Josh joined the Refresh team in May 2023 and has since then become an essential part of our team, enhancing our one-stop-shop capabilities. Keep reading to learn more about Josh.

So Josh, tell us a bit about your education and career so far?

”I started off my career at the University of Bath where I got my Masters degree in Integrated Design Technology. This course gave me a broad understanding of both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and during this time, I developed a passion for emerging technologies. After university, I got a job at Energia as an Operations Engineer and worked there for two and a half years. Here I got to get first-hand experience in emerging renewable technology including battery, hydrogen, and wind. Joining Refresh has presented me with new challenges moving from an industrial to a domestic scale. It is great getting to use my skill set to give back to the consumer by increasing the energy efficiency of their homes.”

Tell us a bit more about your role at Refresh

”I am still quite a fresh start but my main roles involve EV charging surveys and quotes, broadening our one-stop-shop capabilities through heat pumps and cavity wall insulation and working towards ISO and MCS qualifications to improve our products.”

How long have you worked at Refresh?

”I have worked at Refresh for two months now, I already feel like part of the team.”

What do you like most about your job?

”I enjoy being in the office every day and the people I work with. The best office days are definitely Friday when we all get a chippy for lunch.”

If you could switch roles with anyone else at Refresh NI, who would it be and why?

”Probably Jim, Dom or Darren. I spend a lot of time on EV installs so I would like to be out in the van installing one myself.”

If you could add one thing to the office, what would it be?

”A hot food counter! I would love to come into the office to a fry.”

Describe your ideal weekend off work

”Ideal weekend off involves lots of good coffee and playing as many sports as I can whether that is golf, hockey, rock climbing or water sports.”

You’re getting a takeaway, what are you ordering?

”Chicken madras and a peshwari naan.  Unpopular opinion, but I think Chinese is overrated.”

Tell us a fun fact that not many people know about you.

”I am a big Sci-fi fan, my favourite movie is Dune and I can’t wait for part two in November!”

If you had to listen to one music artist for the rest of your life who would it be?

”I am torn between two bands Kaleo or Fontaines D.C.”

”I used to ride horses for Northern Ireland

I have climbed Kilimanjaro

I did a ski season in Val Thornes”

Cats or dogs?

‘Dogs.”

Night in or night out?

‘Night out.”

Favourite TV series?

‘It’s a strange one, it’s called sense8.”

Favourite food?

‘Probably arancini.”

Biggest fear?

‘Being in a submarine.”
