What Is NISEP?
The Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP) offers financial assistance towards the cost of installing energy-efficient home improvement services such as heating and insulation upgrades. The initiative is designed to make homes greener and reduce carbon emissions, helping Northern Ireland reach its goal of achieving a net zero future by 2050.

EFFICIENCY PLUS INSULATION FULLY FUNDED
This is an insulation scheme offered by Phoenix Energy for homeowners in Northern Ireland to receive a fully funded grant towards loft and/or cavity wall insulation, LED lighting and a stone stream shower head.
Efficiency Plus Insulation Fully Funded Eligibility Criteria & Application
To qualify for this grant you must:
- Be a homeowner in Northern Ireland
- Have a single annual household income of less than £28,000 or
- Have a total annual household income of less than £40,000
EFFICIENCY PLUS INSULATION CASHBACK
This is an insulation scheme is available to homeowners in Northern Ireland who are not eligible for the fully-funded insulation scheme due to income criteria.
This scheme enables homeowners and private tenants in NI to receive a 1/3 grant towards the cost of loft and/or cavity wall insulation. Please note: there is a £500 maximum grant per insulation measure. In addition, homeowners will receive LED light bulbs and a stone shower head fully funded.
Efficiency Plus Cashback Eligibility Criteria & Application
To qualify for this grant you must:
- Be a homeowner in Northern Ireland or
- Be a private tenant in Northern Ireland
EFFICIENCY PLUS FULLY FUNDED
This is a heating and insulation scheme for homeowners in Northern Ireland living within the Phoenix Energy licensed area. Customers must currently have solid fuel heating, no central heating system, or an old oil or LPG system which is over 15 years old or broken beyond repair.
Measures include a fully funded grant for a new natural gas central heating system, as well as loft and/or cavity wall insulation, and a range of energy-saving materials such as LED light bulbs, smart heating controls, reflective radiator panels and a stone stream shower head.
Efficiency Plus Fully Funded Eligibility Criteria & Application
To qualify for this grant you must:
- Be a homeowner in the Phoenix Energy licensed area
- Have a single annual household income of less than £28,000 or
- Have a total annual household income of less than £35,000
EFFICIENCY PLUS 50/50
This is a heating and insulation scheme, available to NI homeowners and private tenants living within the Phoenix Energy licensed area. Customers must currently have solid fuel heating, no central heating system, or an old oil or LPG system which is over 15 years old or broken beyond repair.
Measures include a 50% grant towards a new natural gas central heating system, as well as fully funded loft and/or cavity wall insulation measures, LED lighting, remote smart heating controls, reflective radiator panels and a stone stream shower head.
Efficiency Plus 50/50 Eligibility Criteria & Application
To qualify for this grant you must:
- Be a homeowner or a private tenant in the Phoenix Energy licensed area
- Have a single annual household income of less than £45,000
- Have a total annual household income of less than £50,000
EFFICIENCY PLUS HEAT PUMP
This is an air source heat pump scheme, available to homeowners in Northern Ireland. This scheme is open to customers with no existing natural gas connection, solid fuel heating, no central heating system, or an old oil or LPG system which is over 15 years old or broken beyond repair.
Measures include an air source heat pump with heating controls, cavity wall insulation and/or loft insulation, LED light bulbs, water widget, reflective radiator panels and a hot water tank jacket.

- Have a total annual household income of less than £35,000
